Memorial Description

Street called “Robson’s Close”.
There is a plaque bearing the dedication. Inside a circle is the Victoria Cross depicted above the name of the recipient, lettering incised using Roman capitals.
It has been placed on an upright stand 40 inches high x 36 inches wide (1.16m x 914mm).

Notes

1. The story of how Pte. Robson won his V.C., see S86.141

2. The Victoria Cross commemoration stone is a part of a national scheme which will see every Victoria Cross recipient of the First World War-628 in total-commemorated with paving stones. Two other South Tynesiders awarded the Medal, Joseph Collins and Thomas Young will also be honoured in 1918, exactly a centenary after their actions.
