Notes

1. Michael Ellison writes:
We are also still trying to ascertain a processional cross, the parish magazine for Dec 1919 records (as written by the then rector George Barnsley):
"Processional Cross – given by a lady in memory of my brother who was killed in Oct 1914. His grave can not be found, so no cross can be placed there so she is giving this cross as his memorial. We hope to have it by Christmas”
His brother was Alan Arthur Barnsley, Capt 4th Lancs Fus attd 1st Northumberland Fus. KIA between 25 and 27 Oct 1914 aged 37. Our current cross has no inscription but our elder members of the congregation say it has been in church since before the 1930s so it may well be the one mentioned above. I hope to go through the terriers in the archives to ascertain if indeed this is the cross we are still using, and if so it is also a war memorial.
