Notes

1. Lt. Tucker’s mother, Lucy Jane Tucker, was from the family who owned Tucker’s Brewery.

2. Lieut.Col. A.C. Kayll, V.D., 6th Reserve Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers, who unveiled the window, was Lt. Tucker’s first colonel.

3. The oldest part of what is now Saint Edmund's chapel, was originally part of the hospital of Saint Edmund, Bishop and Confessor and of glorious Bishop Cuthbert founded 1247-49. For many years following the reformation it lay in ruins, but in October 1837 after restoration work supervised by John Dobson it was reopened as Trinity Chapel (there already being a St. Edmund's chapel in the town at this time, since demolished). The building was extended in 1894-96. The chapel of St Edmund was turned into the south aisle of a new church dedicated to the Holy Trinity. In 1969 Holy Trinity was declared redundant, the chapel of St Edmund was partitioned off and used for weekday services until the Parish Church of St Mary's was destroyed by fire in 1979. Work commenced on restoring St Edmund's as a regular place of worship in 1980 and in the same year the "Trinity Community Church" was opened next door. Sunday services recommenced in St Edmund's Chapel in May 1981 and it has been the new Parish Church of Gateshead team Ministry since December 1982.
