Memorial Description
Organ case, with traceried borders. There are assorted badges in the bottom border set within a pattern of leaves in half relief. At the very top is a shield containing a cross.
The dedication is on a panel above the console and below the pipes.
The names are carried on two plaques on front of the organ pipes. Each has a decorative border of leaves in half relief with an angel’s head at centre top. Lettering is in a single column on each in Roman capitals.

Notes
1. The first Chapel contained a Harrison organ which was transferred to the new chapel, built in 1939. The case was erected round it in 1948 and dedicated to former Bede man who had been killed in 1939-45.
2. Hild Bede was formed in 1975 by the merger of two single-sex teacher training colleges: the College of the Venerable Bede, for men, was founded in 1838 and was associated with the University from 1892; while St Hild's College, for women, was founded in 1858 and was associated with the University from 1896. Graduates of St Hild's were the first female graduates from Durham in 1898. The Chapel of St. Bede is now the main chapel within College and is where all services are held.
