Summerell, W., Pte., 1916
In Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium, is the Commonwealth War Grave of 2497 Private William Summerell, serving with the 1st/7th Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers, who died 22/02/1916.

Morpeth Herald 24/03/1916 carries a short obituary:

News has been received by Mrs Summerell, of Radcliffe, that her husband, Private W. Summerell, died from wounds on February 22nd. In a letter to her from one of his comrades, it tells how he was one of a party repairing the wire entanglements, when he was shot in the back by a sniper. He was taken to the hospital, where he died three hours after being admitted, never regaining consciousness. He leaves a wife [sic] and two children to mourn his loss.

He is remembered in Amble on A13.07 and in Alnwick in A11.59 (Buckley, F., War History of the Seventh Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers, Newcastle upon Tyne, T.M. Grierson, Printer, [N.D.].)

There is a W. Summerville on Radcliffe Memorial R32.01 is this the same man?
