In Cambrai East Military Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of 238063 Private William Weddell, serving with the South Staffordshire Regiment who died 05/10/1918.

In Amble West Cemetery is the family headstone which reads:

granddaughter of the above
who died at Kenton
March 13th 1934
aged 23 years.

William Weddell was born in Shilbottle and enlisted in Amble. He formerly served with with the Northumberland Fusiliers with the service number 267233.

He is remembered in Amble on A13.07 and in Radcliffe on R32.01
