Lampshire, L., Pte., 1918
In Lapugnoy Military Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of M2/203329 Private Lawrence Lampshire, serving with the 335th Mechanical Transport Company Army Service Corps who died 04/05/1918.

Julie Famelton has provided the following:

He was born in Cornwall in 1893, but was living in Nunnykirk in the 1911 census, employed as a groom. Later he was Chauffeur to Colonel Orde. He enlisted in August 1916 and served in France January 1917. He died on May 5th 1918 in No. 22 Casualty Clearing station of wounds he received on 30th April. The Army Service Corps was responsible for delivering supplies for the troops, by various means. They had been described as ‘Using prodigious feats of logistics and were one of the great strengths of organisation by which the war was won’.
