Ainslie, R., Pte., 1917
In Ormesby (St. Cuthbert) Churchyard is the Commonwealth War Grave of 32859 Private Robert Ainslie, serving with the Yorkshire Regiment transferred to (237875) 407th Agricultural Company, Labour Corps who died 04/07/1918.

Soldiers Died in the Great War states that he was born in Jedburgh, enlisted in Newcastle upon Tyne and lived in Morpeth.

In the 1911 census Robert and his wife Jane are living at Rothley Lane Hartburn, Morpeth. Robert was a gamekeeper.

WW1 Pension Records state that Jane and her two children, Robert born 1910 and Annie born 1911, were living at Ormsby Cottage Ormsby when Robert died of pneumonia at Normanby.
