Flight Sgt. Stuart was a crew member of Whitley V Z6932 ZA- which took off on an air test. The aircraft landed at Acklington airfield after becoming lost in poor visibility. On leaving to return to Leeming, the Whitley flew into h/t cables, crashed and burst into flames.
