Northumberland Aviation Diary: Aviation Incidents from 1790-1999 ; Derek Walton; Norav Publications; 1999; ISBN 0 9536189 0 0 states:
From 247 Sqn, RAF Odiham, while detached to RAF Acklington for firing practice, stalled and dived into the ea at Druridge bay. The pilot 1609301 John Jack, 23, of Buckinghamshire was killed and is buried in Chevington Cemetery.

He was flying in Vampire F. Mk.1 TG301 ZY-Z

John Jack is remembered in Chevington on C27.03 which carries no names but the list was included on the Unveiling Programme.
