Woodward, C., A/Smn., 1917
In Boulogne Eastern Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of Tyneside Z/6290 Able Seaman Christopher Woodward, serving with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, who died 02/11/1917.

Colin Boyd has provided the following:

Christopher was born on 7th June 1896. He was working as a miner, living with his father, Charles, at 1, Mason's View, Seaton Burn when he enlisted in the Royal Naval Division on 24th July 1915.

He joined the Anson Battalion at Mudros on 5th February 1916 and was transferred to the 188th Labour Company on 5th February 1917.

After rejoining the Anson Battalion on 18th March 1917 Christopher died at 3am on 2nd November 1917 in the 13th General Hospital in Boulogne from the effects of gun shot wounds to the arm and back.

Christopher Woodward is remembered in Seaton Burn on S88.01
