Jackson, R., Cpl., 1917
On the Arras Memorial is the name of 37635 Corporal Robert Jackson, serving with the 24th Service (1st Tyneside Irish) Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers who died 28/04/1917.

The Battalion were at the Oppy line preparing for an assault to take place at 4.25am at Rouex. The barrage missed the enemy front line, falling to the rear and caused a few casualties amongst the German Defenders.

The 24th Battalion were help up by machine-gun posts in buildings north of the railway line, and the attack petered out.

He is remembered at Shiremoor on S21.01 and in List of Tyneside Irish 1914-18)
