In the cemetery is a headstone which reads:
In loving remembrance of
Captain John Reed
of “Western Prince”
lost at sea December 1940
Effie, his wife
died February 22nd 1948
Percy Arnold, their son
lost at sea May 20th 1941.
John Reed is remembered in Tynemouth on T36.01 and on our List of Ships’ crews
