In Tynemouth (Preston) Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of:

16/162 Lance Serjt.
W.B. Turnbull
Northumberland Fusiliers
16th November 1917

Newcastle Coroner's Report Number 482 19th November 1917.

"William Bell Turnbull aged 24 years. No 162 Pensioner Sergeant, 16th Battalion N/land Fusiliers, Depot Newcastle. Home address No 101 Park Crescent, North Shields, died in 1st Northern General Hospital at 4.20 pm on 16th.

After enquiries the Coroner granted a Certificate. No inquest necessary, injured at seat of War.

He was in 15th platoon, D Company. He was discharged under Kings Regulations 392, Paragraph XVI, No longer physically fit for War Service.

He is remembered in the Regimental historyNUT068 page 167 and in North Shields on N34.22 and N34.36
