Royal Air Force
22nd May 1944 age 22

Killed in action
Ever remembered by all.

Flying Officer Redshaw was serving with 619 Squadron. He was a crew member of Lancaster I NN695 PG-X which took off from Dunholme Lodge on a mission to Duisburg. On the return flight, he was fired at by an intruder while over East Anglia and crashed, killing all but one who is assumed to have parachuted to safety.

This was a night when 34 Lancaster aircraft, each with a crew of 7, crashed, A few were injured, some were taken prisoner and some evaded capture, but the majority were killed.

Lancaster NN695 PG-X had departed Dunholme Lodge at 2258 for Ops Duisburg

It was possibly intercepted at 800M 15-25km WNW of Kings Lynn by a Luftwaffe Intruder captained by Fw Johann Trenke (VI/KG51) and shot down at 0314 for his 6th Abschuss
