James was born on March 6th 1892. He was working as an engineer living with his parents, John and Isabel at 4, Huddleston Street, Cullercoats when he enlisted in the Royal Naval Division on 23/10/1914.
He joined the Hood Battalion on November 2nd 1914 and was posted as missing later reported as killed in action in Gallipoli on June 4th 1915.
James Shuttleworth is remembered in Cullercoats on C68.01 and in Tynemouth on T36.14
