On the Helles Memorial is the name of Tyneside Z/1114 Able Seaman John Harold Cartwright, serving with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve who died 04/06/1915.

Colin Boyd has submitted the following:

John was born on 22nd February 1896. He was working as a miner living at 5, North Road, East Holywell when he enlisted in the Royal Naval Division on 6th November 1914. His mother, Annie was listed as his next of kin living at 8, South Street, Shiremoor. John joined 3rd platoon, 'A' Company, of the Collingwood Battalion and was posted as missing assumed killed in Gallipoli on 4th June 1915.

John Harold Cartwright is remembered in Earsdon on E3.02 and E3.03
