Douglas, W., A/Smn., 1915
On the Helles Memorial is the name of Able Seaman William Douglass, serving with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve who died 06/05/1915.

Colin Boyd has provided the following:

William was born on 1st February 1891 and was working as a miner living with his parents, Matthew and Isabella at 4, Middle Row, Bates Cottages, Seaton Delaval when he enlisted in the Royal Naval Division on 24th October 1914. He joined the Hood Battalion on 1st March 1915 and was posted as missing assumed killed in action in Gallipoli on 6th May 1915.

William's brother Matthew was killed the following year.
