In Cabaret-Rouge British Cemetery, Pas de Calais, France, is the Commonwealth War Grave of 21/507 Private William Wardman Dowdall, serving with the 21st (Tyneside Scottish) Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers, who died 10/08/1916.

William was the son of George and Mary Ann Dowdall, of 5, Hector Street, Bertram Place, Earsdon. He was born at Newcastle upon Tyne.

Morpeth Herald 08/09/1916 carries a brief obituary:

Private W. Dowdall, Hector Street, Shiremoor, killed in action.

William Wardman Dowdall is remembered at Earsdon on E3.02 and E3.03 at Shiremoor on S21.01 and at Backworth on B1.03
