On the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France, is the name of 20/1629 Private George Davison Dormand, serving with the 20th (Tyneside Scottish) Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers, who died 01/07/1916.

George was the son of Peter and Margaret Davison, of 9, Mill St. Chirton, North Shields.

Morpeth Herald 25/08/1916 carries the following:

Mr and Mrs Dormand, of Cross Row, West Cramlington, have received official news ... [that] their grandson, Private George Dormand, N.F., has been killed in action.

He is remembered at Cramlington on C60.03 and at Tynemouth in T36.14 pages 21-41
