Stratton, J.H., L/Cpl., 1915
In Boulogne Eastern Cemetery, Pas de Calais, France, is the Commonwealth War Grave of 2525 Lance Corporal J.H. Stratton, serving with the 1st/7th Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers, who died 13/05/1915.

Morpeth Herald 28/05/1915 carries a brief obituary:

Mr and Mrs Statton [sic], of Albion Row, Shankhouse, Cramlington, have received intimation that their son, Lance-Cpl. James Statton [sic], of the 7th Northumberland Fusiliers, who was wounded and 'gassed' in action on April 27th has died in hospital at Boulogne. The acting chaplain at the hospital, who conveyed the sad news to the parents, states that he was totally blind up to about one hour of his death. The deceased, who was about 27 years of age, was very highly respected in the Cramlington district, who share with the relatives in their great loss.

James Stratton is remembered in Cramlington on C60.03 as T. H. Statton, in Ashington A17.01 as Statton J.H. on A17.43 and at Alnwick in A11.59
