In Rocquigny-Equancourt Road British Cemetery, Manancourt, is the Commonwealth War Grave of 35582 Private F.J. Eke, serving with the Duke of Wellington's (West Riding) Regiment, who died 18/09/1918.

Soldiers Died in the Great War states that he was born in Yarmouth.

The 1901 Census shows that the family, father Henry G. Eke and wife, Sarah Elizabeth, lived with their son Frederick James, at 101 East Row, East Hartford, Hartford Colliery.

Henry G Eke, aged 31, was a Coalminer Shifter, who was born in Ildeslo, Norfolk. His wife, Elizabeth, was aged 29 and was born in Cambridge. Frederick James, aged 5, was also born at Ildeslo.

A photo shows that they had another son.

Frederick became a miner and married Mary Isabelle Eke. They had a daughter, Mary, who was born in 1917.

He gained the British War and Victory Medals.

He is remembered in Cramlington on C60.01 and C60.03 /a>
