Unveiled 16th January 1921 by Dr. Wild, Lord Bishop of Newcastle.

Memorial Description

Plaque 120cm. high x 170cm. wide of classical design, with gable top, resting on a rectangular black pattress. In the centre of the gable is a laurel wreath, encircling a plain cross, all carved in half relief. The dedication is above and to the sides of the wreath. The main panel has a soldier carved in half relief on each side, both facing inwards and resting on reversed rifles. The names are listed in three columns. Most of the lettering is in Roman capitals, with parts of the dedication in Gothic upper and lower case.

White Italian marble on black marble.

They died for God King and Country.
Erected by / parishioners and members of this Church / in grateful remembrance of / 1914 - 1918 / (names) / who gave their lives in the Great War.

Notes

1. This memorial is very similar in design to Elsdon, E23.01

2. The church also contains a fine eagle lectern, said to have been carved by an Italian prisoner-of-war who was at an internment camp in the area.
