On Portsmouth Naval Memorial is the name of P/KX 78877 Stoker 1st Class John Luke, serving with the Royal Navy who died 19/01/1940.

In Blyth (Cowpen) Cemetery is a family headstone which reads:

Annabell
Beloved wife of
Henry Luke
Died 24th Dec. 1935
Aged 72 years.
The above Henry Luke
Died 27th March 1941
Aged 80 years.
John, their son, lost at sea
On H.M.S. Grenville
19th Jany. 1940
Aged 34 years.
