Sgt. Elliott was the Flight Engineer aboard Avro Lancaster III ND634 AS-U of 166 Squadron, which was lost on a mission to Stuttgart. The Lancaster is believed to have been the victim of a Luftwaffe night fighter flown by Obst. Helmut Lent. It crashed at Olbronn, some 7 miles north north east of Pforzheim, with the loss of all seven crew members.
