In Horton (St James) Cemetery, Blyth is a family headstone which reads:

March, 8th 1881, aged 47 years.

aged 33 years.

Christopher Jackson was born at Choppington in 1889. He enlisted at Blyth and was killed at the Battle of Arras.

14th Battalion War Diary, 14/08/1916: ‘D’ Coy. suffered casualties at ‘Clarence Crater’ from enemy shelling. Killed; OR 2, Wounded; OR 6, Missing; OR 7 (these were all buried in debris).

His brother William H. Jackson also fell.
