In Dernancourt Communal Cemetery Extension Somme, France, is the Commonwealth War Grave of 2788 Private Frank Hodgson serving with the 1st/4th Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers who died 18/09/1916.

In Newbrough (St. Peter) Cemetery is a family headstone which reads:

In loving memory of
Joseph Aaron
beloved husband of
Margaret Hodgson
who died April 13th 1913
aged 46 years
also the above Margaret
who died April 3rd 1946
aged 79 years
also their children Ellen & Robert
who died in infancy
also Frank their son 4th N.F.
killed in action on the Somme, France
Sept. 18th 1916 aged 25 years

Frank was born at Warden, Hexham in the second quarter of 1891, the eldest son of Joseph Aaron and Margaret Hodgson of Fourstones.

Aged 25, he was wounded on 15 September 1916 and died three days later from his wounds at 1/1 Sth. Mid. Casualty Clearing Station, France.

He attended Newbrough Boys School, leaving in 1904.
