In Struma Military Cemetery, Greece is the Commonwealth War Grave of 1991 Sapper Robert Elliott serving with the 2nd/1st (Northumberland) Field Company, Royal Engineers, who died 02/11/1916.

In Newbrough (St. Peter) Cemetery is a family headstone which reads:

In loving memory of
Henry
husband of Annie Elliott
who died at Stonecroft
March 23rd 1910 aged 72 years
also of the above Annie
who died Sep. 4th 1929
aged 71 years
also of Robert Elliott
Northumbrian Royal Engineers
Their eldest son and husband of
Meggie Elliott
who died on active service near
Salonica Nov. 2nd 1916 aged 34 years
interred in Kilo Military Cemetery

Robert was the eldest son of Henry and Annie Elliott of Stonecroft, Fourstones and the husband of Meggie Elliott of Stagshaw Lodge, Corbridge.

He enlisted in February 1915.

Aged 34, he was recorded missing at Cubuluk Bridge, Macedonia on 2 November 1916 and later recorded as having drowned.

He attended Newbrough Boys School, leaving in 1897.
