In Humshaugh St.Peter’s graveyard is a family headstone for Beattie which reads:

In loving memory of
Mary Ellen
the beloved wife of
Adam Beattie
of Walwick, Humshaugh
who died 25th November 1918
aged 60 years.
Also their son
James Adam
who died when homeward bound
from ? East Africa, 14th
Dec. 1917 and was buried at sea
aged ?? yearsAlso their eldest son
William
who died in Italy 2nd Oct. 1918aged ?? yearsThe rest of the lettering cannot be read)

Both are remembered in Humshaugh on H81.01, H81.02 and H81.03
