He was born 5th December 1889, at Wood Head Farm at Haltwhistle, and was the eldest son of William Keen, farmer, and his wife Sarah Ann.
He was educated at the Haltwhistle School and became a Butcher.
He enlisted 2nd April 1917 at Tidworth, and served in France and Flanders from the 22th December 1917. He was killed in action 25th March 1918.
An officer wrote to his parents: He has worked hard and proved himself a thoroughly efficient soldier. Another officer had written: Your son was in my troop during his time out in France, and he was always a very willing young fellow, and we feel in the squadron that we have lost a very good soldier.
