In Railway Dugouts Burial ground is the Commonwealth War Grave of 4/1613 Corporal Joseph Yeomans, serving with the 4th Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers who died 26/01/1916.

Joseph Yeomans was born in Caldbeck, Cumberland in 1885. He married Ada Smith in 1905 at Haltwhistle, Northumberland. He was employed as a hewer.

He was well known in the West Tyne football district, as he was for some years the secretary of Haltwhistle United A.F.C. and was also a member of the Haltwhistle Silver Prize Band.

He was killed 26th January 1916, aged 30, by a sniper, and left his widow with five young boys at West Crossfield Terrace, Haltwhistle, Northumberland.
