Carr, A., Pte., 1915
On the Loos Memorial is the name of 4817 Private Albert Carr serving with the Northumberland Fusiliers (2nd Battalion) who died 01/10/1915.

Derek Johnstone has provided the following:

Albert Carr was born at Newcastle, but details of his parents have not been established. Census information for Albert is not available at this time.

Military records show Albert enlisted at Blyth Northumberland and his effects went to his widow Annie in 08/02/1917, and again in 12/09/1919 to his widow, who was now Annie Stephenson. It’s very possible Annie married Allan Stephenson at Morpeth in 1918.

Albert’s Pension Index Cards shows he died on 14/10/1915; however all other records confirm 1/10/1915 and his Next of kin was Annie Carr.

Acknowledgments also to Margaret Allison.

Albert Carr is remembered in Stakeford and Bomarsund on S71.02, in Choppington on C36.01, and in Ashington on A17.01 (A17.27) and A17.43
