Taylor, B.E., A/Smn., 1915
On the Helles Memorial is the name of Tyneside Z/852 Able Seaman Benjamin Edmund Taylor, serving with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve who died 04/06/1915.

Colin Boyd has provided the following:

Benjamin was born on 16th August 1894. He was working as a miner living with his father, James at 10, Downies Buildings, Newbiggin-by-the-Sea when he enlisted in the Royal Naval Division on 2nd November 1914.

He joined the 2nd Platoon , "A" Company of the Collingwood Battalion on 4th February 1915 and was posted as missing assumed killed in action in Gallipoli on 4th June 1915.

Benjamin Edmund Taylor is remembered in Newbiggin-by-the-Sea on N10.03, N10.06 N10.14 and N10.15
