On the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France, is the name of 19/895 Private John McKenzie, serving with the 8th Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers, who died 05/01/1917.

Morpeth Herald 02/02/1917 carries a brief obituary:

ROLL OF HONOUR

MACKENZIE- [sic] Killed in action, Jan. 5th, 1917, in his 31st year, Private John Mackenzie [sic], the second son of Jane and the late William Mackenzie [sic], 2 Vernon Place, Newbiggin-by-the-Sea. Late of Bedlington Station. Deeply mourned

He is remembered at Newbiggin by the Sea on N10.03, N10.06 and N10.14
