Graham, T.J., A/Smn., 1917
In Mendinghem Military Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of Z/2806 Able Seaman Thomas Joseph Graham, serving with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve who died 29/10/1917.

Colin Boyd has provided the following:

Thomas was born on 28th May 1896 and was working as a miner living with his parents at 2, Allan Road, Newbiggin-by-the-Sea when he enlisted in the Royal Naval Division on 2nd January 1915.

He joined the Howe Battalion on 10th February 1915 and was invalided to the UK on 31st October 1915 suffering from Dysentery.

Thomas qualified as a Lewis Gunner and joined the Anson Battalion on 26th November 1916. He was invalided to the UK again on 26th March 1917 with an injury to his left foot.

After returning to the Anson Battalion on 14th July 1917 Thomas was mortally wounded on 26th October 1917. Thomas died at 10.50 pm the same day in the 46th Casualty Clearing Station from the effects of a gun shot wound to the head which caused a compound fracture of the skull.
