Beal, T., Pte., 1918
In Outtersteene Communal Cemetery Extension, Bailleul is the Commonwealth War Grave of 23/902 Private Thomas Beal serving with the 23rd (Tyneside Scottish) Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers who died 11/04/1918.

Margaret Burgess has submitted the following:-

Thomas was born in 1874 at Newbiggin-by-the-Sea. In 1881 he was living with his grandparents William and Mary Armstrong at Hewitt's Buildings Newbiggin-by-the-Sea.

In 1911 Thomas, a miner his wife Elizabeth and their daughter Wilhelmina Hindhaugh were living at Marine Street, Ralph Armstrong William's uncle born 1839 a retired fisherman was living with them.

Thomas enlisted at Newcastle upon Tyne and joined the Northumberland Fusiliers. He was killed 11th April 1918.

Recipient of the British War Medal and Victory Medal.

Thomas Beal is remembered in Newbiggin by the Sea on N10.06 and N10.14
