Hollingsworth, A.H., Lieut., 1944
In Cambes-en-Plaine Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of 299319 Lieutenant Antony Howard Hollingsworth, serving with the 2/6 Battalion South Staffordshire Regiment who died 07/07/1944.

Margaret Burgess has submitted the following:-

Antony Howard the son of Fred and Winifred Mabel Hollingsworth was born in Newcastle in 1917. He attended Bedlington Secondary School and then went to Hatfield College, Durham 1936-39. In 1939, an undergraduate, he is living at 1 Church School House at Newbiggin by the Sea. He married Hazel Lillian Kerr from Belfast, Northern Ireland.

He was killed in Normandy in 1944 and is buried at Cambes-en-Plaine Cemetery, Calvados, France Row B17. On his headstone, is the inscription “At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.”

He is remembered at Newbiggin by the Sea on N10.04, N10.13 and N10.14 at Bedlington on B15.13 and at Durham on D47.059
