In St Vaast Military Cemetery, Richbourg, L’Avoue France is the Commonwealth War Grave of 747 Lance Corporal Robert Tait Tully serving with the 11th Battalion Royal Sussex Regiment who died 30/06/1916.

Margaret Burgess has submitted the following:-

His father added the inscription “At Rest” to his headstone.

In St Bartholomew's Churchyard is a family headstone which reads:-

Who departed this life
Feby. 28th 1901 aged 18 years
Also Margaret their daughter
Died Sept. 16th 1893
Aged 8 years
Also Thomas & William
Their children, died in infancy

11th Batt. Royal Sussex Regiment
Who was killed in action June 30th
1916 in his 24th year
Interred at St. Vaast Port

Aged 82 years

Died Novr. 3rd 1955 aged 63 years

Robert was one of the ten children of James and Jane Ann Tully of 18 Gibson Street, Newbiggin by the Sea.
