Chalder, A., Pte., 1916
In Faubourg D’Amiens Cemetery, Arras is the Commonwealth War Grave of 19/1307 Private Abraham Chalder serving with the 19th Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers who died 24/11/1916.

Margaret Burgess has submitted the following:-

Abraham was born in 1894 in Kelloe, Durham, son of Abraham and Eleanor Chalder. His mother lived at 5 Burnside Cottages, Newbiggin by the Sea 1914-18.

Robert was killed in action, aged 23 years, 24th November 1916. His mother added "He Will Clasp The Broken Chain Closer When We Meet Again." to his headstone.

Abraham Chalder is remembered in Newbiggin by the Sea on N10.03, N10.06, N10.14 and N10.15, where his name is given as "Chandler, and in the Battalion History pages 180 and 245

In the "Book of Honour" in the church (N10.15) his name is given as Chandler.
