In Taukkyan War Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of 7959729 Trooper John Stainbank serving with the Royal Armoured Corps who died 11/02/1944.

In St. Bartholomew's Churchyard is the family grave for Stainbank. This includes a separate stone which reads:

Tpr John Stainbank
killed in action
Burma 11th 1944
aged 32 years.

John Stainbank is remembered in Newbiggin-by-the-Sea on N10.04 and N10.14
