On Chatham Naval Memorial is the name of C/KX 75239 Leading Stoker William Nicholls, serving with the Royal Navy who died 06/07/1942.

In St. Bartholomew's Churchyard is a family headstone which reads:

In loving memory of
Charles
beloved husband of Theodora Nicholls
who died Dec. 9th 1944 aged 69 years
Also William son killed in war service
Royal Navy July 6th 1942 aged 37 years
Also Elizabeth Gladys Bryndle (?Brynolf) daughter
who died Feb. 6th 1943 aged 35 years
at Chessington.
