In Naples War Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of 4466434 Lance Serjeant George Ferrell, serving with the Durham Light Infantry who died 12/10/1943.

In St.John's Churchyard, Seaton Hirst is a family headstone which reads:

In loving memory of
Richard Ferrell
died at Newbiggin-by-the-Sea
July 27th 1940 aged 27 years.
Also Sgt. George Ferrell, D.L.I.
died of wounds
Oct. 12th 1943 aged 33 years.
Interred at Naples, Italy.
Also Maisie, dear sister of the above
and beloved wife of William Dunn
died March 29th 1948 aged 46 years.
Also Elizabeth Ferrell, dearest mother of the above
died May 21st 1969 aged 89 years.
At rest.
