On the Helles Memorial, Turkey, is the name of Able Seaman John Walker, serving with the Hawke Battalion, Royal Navy Division, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, who died 24/12/1915.

Morpeth Herald 11/02/1916 carries a brief obituary:

Information has been received by Mr and Mrs Walker, 61 Portia Street, Hirst, that their son, Private [sic] John Walker, R.N.D., was killed in action in the Dardanelles. He was in his 21st year, and was last employed at Woodhorn Colliery.

He is remembered at Ashington on A17.01 (A11.27) and A17.43
