In Houplines Communal Cemetery Extension, Nord, France, is the Commonwealth War Grave of 10692 Private W. Stubbs, serving with the 12th Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers, who died 24/12/1915.

Morpeth Herald 21/01/1916 carries a brief obituary:

STUBBS.- Killed in action, in France, on December 24th, 1915, aged 22 years, Private Walter Younger [Stubbs], 10692, 12th Battalion, A. Coy., N.F., eldest and dearly beloved son of Charles and Margaret Ann Stubbs, of 100 Ariel Street, Hirst, and grandson of the late Edward and Eleanor Younger, of North Lion Inn, Buckingham Street, Newcastle.

He is remembered in Ashington on A17.01 (A11.27) and A17.43
