BEDLINGTON STATION

Reynolds, J., Pte., 1917
In Wancourt British Cemetery is the Commonwealth War grave of 21/666 Private John Reynolds serving with the Northumberland Fusiliers who died 23/11/1917.

Carole Fife has provided the following.

John William Reynolds was born in Bedlington in 1894, the seventh child of John and Mary Ann Reynolds. His mother died when he was 13, and in 1911 the family was living in South Row at Bedlington Station. All the boys worked at the colliery with their father and in 1911 John was an endless rope boy. His father died later that year. John enlisted in Bedlington and joined 21st (Tyneside Scottish) Northumberland Fusiliers. At the time of his death he was serving with 102nd Trench Mortar Battery attached to the 21st.

He is remembered in Bedlington Station on B163.04 and in Bedlington on B15.06
