Murphy, M., Pte., 1915
On the Loos Memorial is the name of 13703 Private Michael Murphy, serving with the Northumberland Fusiliers who died 25/09/1915.

Carole Fife has provided the following:

Michael was born in1892 in Bedlington to Michael and Margaret Murphy. In 1911 the family was living at 86 North Row, Bedlington Colliery, and Michael was a pony putter in the mine. 12th Northumberland Fusiliers was deployed to France in September 1915 and Michael died in their first encounter with the enemy at Loos, the largest British offensive of the War. He is remembered on the Loos Memorial.

He is remembered in Bedlington Station on B163.04 and in Bedlington on B15.06 and B15.17
