Tipper, W., A/Smn., 1915
On the Helles Memorial is the name of Tyneside Z/1922 Able Seaman Wilfred Tipper, serving with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve who died 04/06/1915.

Colin Boyd has provided the following:

Wilfred was born on 7th March 1897. He was working as a miner living with his father, James at 73, Juliet Street, Ashington when he enlisted in the Royal Naval Division on 17th November 1914.

Wilfred joined the 1st Platoon, "D" Company of the Collingwood Battalion on 4th March 1915 and was posted as missing later reported as killed in action in Gallipoli on 4th June 1915.

Wilfred Tipper is remembered in Ashington on A17.01, (A17.27) and A17.43
