Patterson, D., A/Smn., 1915
On the Helles Memorial is the name of Tyneside Z/1772 Able Seaman D. Patterson, serving with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve who died 04/06/1915.

Margaret Allison records that in 1911 his address was 31 Pont Street, and that he was aged 27 when he died.

Colin Boyd has provided the following:

David was born on July 16th 1887. He was working as a miner living with his wife, Eleanor Isabella at 30, Pont Street, Ashington when he enlisted in the Royal Naval Division on November 14th 1914.

He joined the 1st Platoon, "D" Company of the Collingwood Division on March 4th 1915 and was posted as missing assumed killed in action in Gallipoli on June 4th 1915.

David Patterson is remembered in Ashington on A17.01 (A17.27) and A17.43
