On the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France, is the name of 2168 Private Mark Richardson, serving with the 1st/5th Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers, who died 14/11/1916.

Morpeth Herald 22/12/1916 carries a brief obituary:
Mr and Mrs Thos Nevens, of 1 First Single Row, North Seaton Colliery, have received news that their son-in-law, Private Matt [sic] Richardson, was killed in action on November 14. Prior to being called to the Colours he worked at Ashington Colliery.

He is remembered in Ashington on A17.01 (A17.27) and A17.43 and at North Seaton on N33.03
