Sgt. Riddell was killed when Short Sunderland L2168 of 1 C.O.T.U. (Coastal Operational Training Unit) crashed near Nigg, Ross and Cromarty, on a night time training flight, with the loss of five crew members.
He is remembered in Ashington on A17.01 (A17.27) and A17.43 and at Hirst on H62.02
